The Claw

We were having lunch with my uncle at one of our favorite little pizza restaurants right around the corner from our house. Don't ever play that game. You never win. This was my advice to Eli, Addi, and Owa as I handed them quarters to play some video games. I explained that "the claw" as it is referred to in Toy Story, is just a big waste of money. So much for my good advice.

Van Project II

Sorry for the delay, but yes we do have AC in the van! The entire dash was put back together a week ago minus about 5 screws that Clayton assures me do not matter. Due to a minor set back however it was only today that JD, yes we name our vehicles, started blowing cold air. Monday I took the van into the shop to charge up the AC but there was a leek. I had to call Clayton and be the bearer of the bad news. I swear I heard his heart sink over the phone! Dan, the all knowing car guy thought the leek was due to the O rings being too small and Clayton changed them out last night and WALA the AC held the charge. We are all set for our west coast road trip!

May - One BIG Celebration

May was one big party. I meant to post this last month but you know how that goes right?

6th Birthday Party at the Aquatic Center



On their actual birthday we had ANOTHER party. Our family went to Chuck E. Cheese. Clayton and I kept having basketball shootouts and I think we had more fun than the kids

Van project - 1/2 point

The evaporator on our van went out! If you're not mechanically inclined like me the evaporator is a part of the air conditioner that helps cool down the car. (I think) It was going to cost more than the value of the car to have the $100 part replaced so Clayton decided to take on the BIG job. He is halfway there. As soon as everything is put back together I will post another video.

Genetics of a Man

Here's proof that Eli has it. He insisted that he DID match--see, this matches with these! I tried to explain that in fact it did not match, but but I didn't really succeed, and I think the reason is that deep down I don't understand really myself.

SIX

Last week the triplets turned six. I try to relish each day because they really do seem to just disappear like older moms are always telling me. It was six years ago on a Thursday, when Olivia Jane 4 pounds 11 ounces was born at 11:24 AM, followed by Eli Bryce weighing in at 5 pounds 12 ounces, born at 11:26 AM and Addison Danielle, 5 pounds 6 ounces arriving a whole minute after her big brother.

We were prepared for the triplets to be born in April. In anticipation of the birth, my sister Kelly came to stay with us at the end of the month after she completed her semester of school. The week came and went and still no babies. I didn’t regret her visit though. She cooked and cleaned and I just laid on the couch!




The last month of my pregnancy I visited the doctor weekly on Thursdays. The Thursday before their birth I was 34 + weeks pregnant and it didn’t look like the triplets were coming anytime soon. My doctor was going to be out of town in a few weeks so I suggested we schedule the c-section on the 6th of May. Dr. Friedman did an amniocentesis on Eli to make sure his lungs were developed. He said boys developed slower so if Eli’s lungs were ready the girls would be ready too. We got the go ahead.

On the 5th Clayton and I had dinner with his parents at their home. I called it “the last supper” I had no idea what would lie ahead for us.

Clayton and I drove to the hospital early the next morning and the nurses prepped me for the c-section. I walked myself to the operating room.





Our anesthetist took some great pictures of the birth. At one point Clayton tried to peek over the sheet and got a little whooze. The anesthetist said "sit down dad" and he did!



There were no major problems or complications during the pregnancy or the birth. Eli went to the NICU for a few hours right after he was born because his blood sugar level dropped really quickly. I didn't meet him until that evening when he joined the girls and I in the hospital room.

The doctors wanted me to get moving and the next morning the nurse came in and pulled me out of bed. I could barely walk. All the babies stayed in one bassinet. Clayton and I would push them around the halls of the hospital to help me get moving again.




I spent my first Mother's Day in the hospital with my new babes. Then on Monday morning all four of us checked out to go home. I still looked 8 months pregnant!

This was just the beginning of our triplet adventures.

Kindergarden Music Program

Thursday was the kids' "Kindergarten's Greatest Hits" concert. It was awesome. They have a great music teacher and they do music 4 days a week! Here's the chorus line.






Mommy and cousins Avani and Chander were pretty excited before the show.





And here's the video (little bit). Addi was hilarious. Her music teacher ended up having to move her over so she couldn't hide.






Here's all the family that came. I'm doing a school assembly in May. It will be really fun! They have a great school.
